ORPHEUS & EURIDICE
SET DESIGN
Orpheus and Eurydice is a modern reimagining of the classic opera by Gluck. I created Orpheus’ descent into hell through a journey through an abandoned construction zone that had the same ominous feeling and opportunities for clutter, texture, lighting, and atmosphere. The hero reaches Elysium which is symbolized by using greenery and foliage as well as a transcendent light from above. The contradiction between the two in lighting and dressing help to show a contrast between the two environments.
Animation and the final video were made using Blender and edited on Adobe Premier. Models built and exported from Sketchup and Rhino3D. Concept art and renderings made with Photoshop collage and storyboards are hand-drawn and edited digitally.
