The House and the Trees - Iglesis Arquit

MODEL STUDY

The House and the Trees is a residential project in Las Condes, Chile. The house is defined only by a roof and a floor plate and opens to the gardens on either side giving clear sightlines through to the trees. The rectilinear shapes create indented patio spaces and large sliding doors further create the ambiguity between inside and outside.

The series of models seek to explore and visualize the different structural forms of the building and the design intent of the architects. A collection of conceptual models were created based on circulation, partis, poche, and sightlines using a variety of materials and techniques. The project works to strengthen modeling skills and show the benefits of model making as part of the explorative design process.
